Nike Epic React Flyknit 2 Men's Running Shoe review

Nike’s is a well-known brand, but did you know they make shoes for people with high arches? Find complete comfort with the Epic React Flyknit 2 Running Shoes. First, have a little fun by picking your favorite color from red, black, white, blue, and so many others, even purple or pink, for men who want a little extra flash. 3. ASICS Women’s MetaRun Running Shoes

ASICS Women's MetaRun Running Shoes review

Asics creates some fabulous shoes and the MetaRun’s work to help with two different problems: overpronation (flat feet) and underpronation (high arches). Both tend to need stability and high arch insoles. Flat feet have none, so these shoes create an arch for them, and those with high arches need pressure relief by offering high arches for your feet to rest on. Asics’s knows what feet need and make it happen.

The Metarun shoes adapt and contour to each person’s feet for a secure, stable, and comfortable run. All the comfort comes from special gel cushioning and a sloped dual-density midsole along with special treads to create a perfect base for your foot. What you end up with is a glove-like fit, thanks to the jacquard mesh and memory foam, which helps with shock absorption while responding to your foot’s movements. Now, doesn’t that sound comfortable?

Basically, this shoe acts like an orthopedic shoe with heel clutching technology, a guidance impact system, and stability system without looking like an orthopedic shoe. Pick from a couple of dark modern color combinations and unique structure and design elements, so the shoes doesn’t look like an orthopedic shoe. You can also try the Dynaflyte 3’s by Asics if this pair doesn’t work for you as these also work great for supinators with high arches. Comes in sizes 5 through 11, including half sizes.

Understanding Running Shoes for High Arches

Arch Test

The first step to understanding your feet is finding out how much of an arch you have, and the way to do that is with a paper brown bag and a bucket of water. Don’t freak out, the test simply involves sticking your foot in water and then on the bag. From there, you can tell the true height of your arch.

If when you stand on the paper, you see a full arch, and your foot is flat both when you sit and stand, then you are flat-footed. If an arch shows up when you sit, then you are mildly flat-footed. A little arch shoes normal feet, but if you can see even less of the side of your foot, then you have medium-high arches. True high arches barely shoe on the side at all.

We will wait while you get a paper brown bag and a bucket to do the test. Now that you know whether you have normal, medium, or highest arches, you can better pick your shoes. Of course, if you are here reading this article, then you may already have super high arches, so let’s move on to the other information you need.

Pain with Arches

First and foremost, people with exceptional arches often have discomfort on their heels and the balls of their feet and toes because the weight distributes to these points. This means you may get more corns and calluses because of extra pressure in the wrong spots. Extra stress on these areas can also cause tight lower calf muscles too.

In a couple of minutes, we will go over supination and how high arches can cause this problem for many people with high arches. Beyond the issues above, though, you may experience knee pain, Achilles tendinitis, iliotibial band pain, and plantar fasciitis. Next, the extra weight on the wrong parts of your foot can lead to back pain and alignment issues.

If you have back pain and high arches, you should schedule an appointment with your doctor and your chiropractor. If you don’t have a chiropractor, now is the time to find one to help realign your spine, which will help you run better with less pain and negative impact on your body. Shoes can help, especially running shoes designed for arch issues, but nothing replaces doctors and chiropractors.

Pronation

High arches can also cause supination, also called under-pronation. Pronation refers to an inward motion of the foot, and with under-pronation, the feet roll outward to compensate for the arch height. This means you put all the weight of your body on the outer edges of your feet and throw off your alignment leading to leg and back pain.

Your foot is the foundation of your body, and if it doesn’t work the way it’s supposed to, you can find problems all over your body! The shoes above should help reduce the effect or correct supination. Mind you, not everyone with high arches has a pronation issue, but check with a doctor to be sure as it could have a positive impact on your health.

If you are still having trouble with high arches, the exercise in this video may help:

Questions About Running Shoes for High Arches

Should I have a different pair of sneakers for walking and day-to-day life?

Yes! Do not use your running shoes for walking as they will wear out more often and in different places. When you run you put more pressure and wear out shoes faster, so if you use them to walk in too, you are adding more pressure to the shoes and reducing the life span even on the very best shoes as running shoes usually only have a six-month life span with heavy use.

What are the most important factors to look for in a shoe for high arches?

Foremost, you need to find a shoe with a cushion that touches the top of your arch. Cradling your arch helps to change where you put weight and reduce pain and health issues. Also, because of the arches, you need shoes to absorb shock to avoid having to absorb the shock in the heal and near your toes. Lastly, look for a shoe with a lot of cushion to help absorb the shock.

Should I get rid of my old shoes if they do not have arch support?

We all have favorite shoes that make our feet feel naked, and getting rid of them can be difficult. However, if your feet aren’t getting support, it’s time for them to go for the good of your health. Finding pretty shoes with arch support may seem like an impossible task, but it’s possible, but you may need to look in a higher price bracket.

Finally, ladies need to reconsider their high heels. Sure, they make your legs look amazing, but with high arches, you already put tons of pressure on the outside of your feet. With heels, you are now added even more pressure and weight to your toes and the bed of your foot. Save yourself the pain, flats can make your legs look nice too.

Conclusion

For both men and women, the Brooks Ghost line of shoes offers the best options for those with high arches. Brooks offers tons of sizes and widths, color options, and different styles to work for any foot. The Ghost shoes specifically offer shock absorption, cushioning, durability, and tons of arch support. Not to mention how highly rated not just this line of shoe rates but also the companies reputation for excellent running shoes.
